What is topsoil and clean fill and where do they come from??
Q. I live in an area with a lot of development going on. Everday I see large trucks from companies that supply topsoil and clean fill. I have always assumed topsoil is the top layer of soil and clean fill is soil that has had all the rocks and bits sifted out. But where does it come from? I mean, if we keep digging up the top sooild from one place and move it to another, won't we do damage to the general enviroment??

A. Top soil and clean fill are usually from a building site. It is taken before they start building.
